The Request
Bergers Legal had spent years building a strong reputation in international law. Winning referrals, closing complex mandates. But when new clients Googled them, the website made them look like a firm half their size. For a firm competing for high-value work, that's a real problem. Corporate clients make decisions based on first impressions, and the site wasn't reflecting the quality of the actual firm.
How we did it
Finding the right tone
Law firm websites fail in one of two ways: stiff and outdated, or trying too hard to look like a tech startup. Neither works for the clients Bergers Legal wants to attract. We went with a third approach. Restrained, confident, typographically precise. The kind of design that feels serious without being cold. Dark photography, careful spacing, nothing decorative.
Structure built for how legal clients evaluate
Corporate clients looking for legal help don't browse. They evaluate. We structured the site around clear practice area pages, each written to answer the specific questions a client in that situation would ask first. Attorney profiles designed to project credibility to the exact type of client each lawyer serves.
Multiple languages, done properly
English as the primary language, with a clean structure built to extend to others. Both versions identical in quality. Not a machine translation bolted on afterwards. Separate URLs for each language, both indexed correctly so international clients find the right version.
Built to rank in the right places
Legal clients searching for specialist help use very specific terms. We built the technical foundation: proper markup for legal services, attorney profiles, and practice areas so Google understands exactly what the firm does and which markets they serve. The kind of work that gets practice area pages ranking in target jurisdictions.
